Every autumn, Mount Takao turns into a colorful wonderland during the Autumn Leaves Festival. From late October to early December 2025, the mountain’s trails are painted in brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. It’s not just about the scenery either—you’ll find live music, taiko drumming, dance shows, and plenty of tasty seasonal snacks near the base and along the way. Many visitors hop on the cable car for sweeping views before wandering up to temples like Yakuōin. It’s the perfect mix of nature, culture, and local flavor—an easy day trip from Tokyo to celebrate autumn.
